About Pennycalc

Pennycalc is a small, independent set of free calculators for people in the UK. The aim is simple: give a clear answer quickly, show how it was worked out, and keep the page free of clutter.

Where the figures come from

Every rate and threshold comes from official sources, mainly GOV.UK and mygov.scot. Each calculator page lists the sources it uses. The figures are checked against the published rates and updated when a new tax year starts in April.

What the calculators are not

The calculators give estimates for information only. They are not tax, legal or financial advice, and they cannot know the details of your own situation. For anything important, check with your payroll team, HMRC or a qualified adviser.
